Internal Disputes Shake Argentina's Government

Recent political crises in Argentina have exposed a power struggle within the ruling 'La Libertad Avanza' coalition. The central conflict unfolds between key figures like Chief of Staff Manuel Adorni and Senator Patricia Bullrich, against the backdrop of preparations for the 2027 elections and efforts to consolidate influence in Buenos Aires.

Internal Disputes Shake Argentina's Government

The accumulated setbacks of the Government in recent weeks have once again agitated internal tensions within the ruling coalition and exposed a dispute that, although still expressed in a low voice, already crosses the Cabinet and the universe of La Libertad Avanza with an eye on the electoral build-up of 2027. In this climate, the controversy over the flights of the Chief of Staff, Manuel Adorni, and the lack of a more emphatic public defense by Senator Patricia Bullrich have ignited new suspicions within the libertarian administration. The reading that began to circulate in the offices of the Casa Rosada was that silence also has political weight. What is beginning to emerge is the fight for political control of the ruling coalition in the face of the next major electoral turn. In this scenario, the name of Bullrich retains its own volume, but the figure of Adorni has gained centrality after being one of the leaders who best capitalized on the libertarian brand in the Buenos Aires area. For this reason, every crisis begins to be read also in terms of internal positioning. In the corridors of power, this caution was interpreted by some as a sign of political calculation rather than internal solidarity. The discontent did not end there. The City of Buenos Aires appears as one of the most sensitive scenarios of this struggle, not only for its symbolic weight but because La Libertad Avanza wants to consolidate itself as the dominant force there and finally displace the PRO from its historical stronghold. According to the picture described by official and parliamentary sources, in several sectors of the ruling coalition it was noted that Bullrich limited herself to sharing a message from President Javier Milei on social networks, without getting more actively involved in the defense of Adorni amid the wear and tear from the ARG 01 episode and the private trip to Punta del Este. Bullrich's early departure, which she justified as a scheduled activity, also fueled readings on the fragility of internal balances in a coalition that still holds together around the centrality of Milei, but which already shows tensions typical of a force in expansion and in full discussion over territorial leadership. The underlying issue actually goes beyond the specific incident. Bullrich's public appearance at the Lollapalooza festival, held in the City of Buenos Aires between March 13 and 15, also went down badly, according to different versions, just as the ruling coalition was trying to contain the political cost derived from the inclusion of Bettina Angeletti, Adorni's wife, in the presidential delegation that traveled to the United States. Within the Government, some considered that this image was out of tune with the moment and reinforced the idea that the former minister opted to preserve her own political path while other sectors came out to absorb the blow. In this context, the reappearance of the ruling coalition's political committee on the ground floor of the Casa Rosada last Tuesday took on additional value. The events shaking the Government not only expose management errors or image costs: they also function as loyalty tests, power measurements, and movements in a more silent dispute for places on the lists, influence over the President, and future projection within the ruling coalition. On the surface, the Government seeks to close ranks. Inwardly, however, the impression remains that the topic was present and that the discomfort did not completely dissipate. Beneath the surface, the internal struggle seems to have entered a less disguised phase. Outwardly, several interlocutors spoke of a good climate.
